Stubborn Stain Solutions: How to Remove Chocolate from Clothing
Ahh chocolate. We love it in any form and on any thing – except our clothes!!
With the temperatures rising, melted chocolate and ice cream are not just something kids have to worry about cuz’ let’s face it – when it comes to chocolate; all of us eat it like children.
Chocolate is one of the most stubborn stains to get rid of, so we’ve listed down a few simple ways to go about it.
For starters, chocolate stains should be treated as soon as you see them. Fresh stains are easier to remove than ones which have settled. Remove all the chumps of chocolate sticking to the stain with the help of a knife or spoon.
Though it’s tempting to use hot water, but that will actually make it set in faster. Use cold water to rinse the back of the area that has the stain. This will keep the stain from travelling too far into the fabric.
Now apply a stain treatment on the affected area. This could be diluted or liquid laundry detergent. Let this sit for about five minutes. Then soak it in cold water for 15 minutes but keep gently rubbing the stain every four minutes to help it loosen up. Keep doing this till the stain disappears.
Since chocolate has an oily base, you might still see some of it after trying washing it off with a detergent. In that case, use a stain remover on both sides of the stain and then wash it normally in the washing machine.
If all else fails and you’re too tired from trying, just call in a professional laundry service to pick it up (along with the other clothes that need that little extra care) and bring it back to you as good as new.
Now that you know how to get your clothes to be chocolate-free again, tell us what are the other stains that trouble you.
