5 DIY Beauty Products
Exploring the world of beauty products seems like a daunting task and figuring out suitable products might take an entire lifetime. With increase in the demand of beauty products (and we are not talking about the skin fairness creams), the number of options available in the market have skyrocketed.
So what can you do you ask? Well, you can create some organic beauty products all by yourself at your home with some easily available ingredients.
Here’s a list of 5 DIY beauty products which you can create all by yourself and start using right away:
1. The Good Ol’ Indian Turmeric Mask
Turmeric is a common Indian household and is considered as one of the most powerful healing spices studied to date. For creating a turmeric facial mask, you will need the following ingredients:
- ½ cup chickpea flour
- 1 ½ cup ground turmeric
- 5 drops of almond or avocado oil
- 2 tbsp of filtered water
Once you have all the ingredients ready, mix turmeric with chickpea flour and keep it safe in an air tight container. Whenever you wish to create a face mask, mix 1 tbsp of turmeric & flour mixture with 5 drops of oil and enough water to make a thick paste. Apply the paste on your face & neck and let it dry for 15 to 20 minutes. Wash it off in shower and Voila, you’ll have a radiant glowing skin.
2. Anti-Ageing Facial Cream
Turn back time and enjoy a younger and cleaner skin with this homemade anti-ageing cream.
For a DIY anti-ageing cream, you’ll need…
- ¼ cup almond oil
- 2 tbsp beewax
- ½ tbsp Vitamin E oil
- 1 tbsp Shea butter
- Essential oils of your choice (Avocado, Lavender etc.)
Mix all the ingredients in a jar. Put 4 inches of water in a pot and simmer it for a while. Put the ingredients in the pot and let the ingredients melt in water. Once the ingredients have melted, empty the paste in a jar and keep in room temperature until the paste hardens. You can now apply the cream morning and night and can use it for the next 3 months.
3. Organic Lip Balm
Lip balms are bare essentials, especially in winter season. There is nothing more irritating than chapped and dry lips on a cold morning. Learn to make your own organic lip balm using the following ingredients:
- 1 lip balm empty tube/1 small box
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- 4 tbsp beewax
- 2 tbsp essential oil mix (almond/lavender/mint)
To make an organic lipbalm, grate the beewax, heat in a small pot and add oils to it. Heat it until everything is melted and stir the mixture. Fill the empty tube or small box with the melted mix and store at room temperature for an hour.
4. Mayonnaise Hair Mask
We understand that no one really wants to put cedar vinegar or egg white in their hair because it is difficult to get rid of the foul odor, but using mayo on your hair will give you shinier mane in no time, all without leaving any foul odor on your head. All you have to do is apply a good quantity of mayo on your head (depending on the length and thickness of hair), leave it for some time and wash it with cold water.
5. Homemade Deo Stick
If you are sick and tired of the chemical loaded ineffective deodorants available in the market and are wishing for a lasting fragrant smell, create your own homemade deodorant which will not only be good for your skin, but will be more effective than your everyday store fragrances.
For creating a homemade deo stick, you will need:
- 1 empty deo stick
- 10 tbsp of extra virgin coconut oil
- 1 cup of arrow root or corn starch
- 20 drops of essential oil (lavender, rose, jasmine, fruits, tea tree)
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and stir well un till u get the desired consistency. You can add more coconut oil if the paste is very thick or dry. Once all the ingredients are properly mixed, empty it in a jar or a deo stick. You can apply the deo by applying and rubbing it on the area you wish using your fingers. Tea Tree oil is a natural anti-bacterial and helps fighting the germs and foul body odor. The other fragrances will ensure you have a light, clean and fresh fragrance all day long.
